Hit and Run Driver? Injured by stolen vehicle?
Road Traffic Personal Injury Compensation.
Uninsured driver / Unisured vehicle.
Motorist Insurers’ Bureau Compensation Claims
The MIB was established in 1946 and is in effect a fund of money which pays out personal injury compensation to victims of motor accidents where the defendant is either untraced or uninsured. The ‘untraced scenario is typically a hit and run case. The ‘uninsured’ scenario is where the defendant driver has bee apprehended and has no valid motor insurance.
The way in which each type of case is dealt with is different.
MIB Untraced Compensation Claims.
Our panel solicitor will receive only a small fixed fee from the MIB for the legal work they undertake. In this type of claim, the solicitor will offer you a fixed percentage no-win, no-fee agreement. They have to do this to cover the shortfall of their costs. Of course it is far better to lose some of your compensation and at least have something at the end of your compensation claim.
MIB Uninsured Compensation Claims.
Here the claim proceeds as though it were a usual motor claim and the defendant was insured. Your solicitor will have his costs paid by the MIB in the usual way. You will not therefore have to sign an agreement to pay out a fixed percentage of your compensation. You will keep every penny of your personal injury compensation. There will be no deductions. You will receive 100% recovery.
Both types of MIB claims involve completing a detailed claim form. One of our solicitors can help you with this form. Remember it is only ‘untraced driver’ cases that are different from other road traffic accident compensation claims.
